    Getting plugged into social media

The world today moves towards the usage of technology as a means of communication both personally and professionally through social media toos like iPods, Face book, IM, etc.... just to name a few.

Tom Hood ( president of the Maryland Association of CPAs ) views this evolution not as technological change, but rather a means of communication and establishing relationships.

Hood suggests 5 simple steps and tools for people to join this social media flow.

    1. Create profiles on Facebbok, Google and Linkedln to establish a digital footprint
    2. Using google reader/ bloglines to start to capture the way leaders in your profession think
    3. Continue to follow their thoughts through the creation of a twitter account
    4. Start sharing what you have learnt by creating a self blog and recording your own thoughts
    5. Finally share with others what you have learnt and promote the people you find interesting
